Daniel 11 C – Seeing and Believing?

In Daniel 11 we see there are different players in the time of the antichrist. There is a king of the South and North and something of rumors from the East. There are countries named here in Daniel 11: Edom, Moab, sons of Ammon and Egypt. There are peoples named: Libyans and Ethiopians. Israel is mentioned as “the Beautiful Land” and Jerusalem as “the beautiful Holy Mountain”.
Many of the prophecies contain names of peoples and countries whose history stretches back to the beginning of mankind. Who are these countries and peoples? How much more they are in the forefront today than just yesterday. Have you read Ezekiel 38 & 39? Russia, Iran, Libya, Turkey, Armenia, Ethiopia, Syria? Have you read Isaiah 17 about Damascus? Is the world busy? Is the Bible open before us and showing us what God told us about? Is God’s Word true? You bet.
Everything that’s happening and 24-hour coverage, coupled with special effect movies, it’s not hard to imagine that which is depicted in Daniel, is it?
Compare Daniel 11:44 with Revelation 9:13. Anything? Have you looked at Revelation 9 lately? Something that comes out of a pit. Have you been hearing what the Iranian President says about their beliefs? Are these things related?
Look at Daniel 9:27 and compare with Daniel 11 and 2 Thessalonians 2, Matthew 24:15-28, and what you can see about the antichrist figure. Check into Revelation 13, 17 and look at the statue in Daniel 2. Note the descriptions, characteristics, events, etc. And there’s more, I just can’t think of it all right now.
Daniel 11:45 says the antichrist will “come to his end with no one to help him.” Remember that Daniel 2 also discusses the end of this fourth kingdom, of which the antichrist is the hub. Daniel 2:34, 44-45. Look also at the description of the fourth kingdom in Daniel 2:40-43. Some of that is about Rome, past and others about the future. Review Daniel 7:7-28; Daniel 8; and Daniel 9:24-27. Have you read Isaiah 24? Seen how the earth is broken asunder, shaken, reels like a drunk person? (Verse 19). Did you hear that recent quakes have moved the earth off its axis? The one in 2005, wasn’t it and then this recent one that got Japan. Remember playing a game where someone is looking for something and as they get closer you say “you’re getting hotter”, meaning “closer”? Are we close?
Remember that Daniel has been told that many of these things involve “Daniel’s people and city”. (Israel/Jerusalem), and for what reasons. (Daniel 9:24). Check back into Romans 11:25 and thereabouts. Look at Revelation 12 again and see Israel.
And so, what is the believer’s hope? Luke 21:36? John 14:1-4? 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4:13-18; 5:9, 23?; 2 Thessalonians 2:13? Hebrews 9:28? Revelation 3:10? Salvation.
