I read this Book: Gaining a Fresh Perspective by Charles R. Swindoll
The second of the four books I picked up the other day. In 2003, I was listening to Insight for Living on my way to work and was reading Gaining a Fresh Perspective by Charles R. Swindoll. I don’t remember, at this point, whether I was listening to the broadcast with the same title or some other broadcast. I do remember something about his mentioning grace, so I may have been listening to a series on grace. Either way, separately and together, little did I know what was ahead for me when I read the testimony of Cynthia, his wife, which starts on Page 20, and involves, forgiveness.
I was just looking for the page number where Cynthia Swindoll’s testimony began when I remembered hearing Charles Swindoll talking about “clearing away the trash”, which is in the title of Chapter 1 of the Study Guide. I vaguely remember what I felt when I listened and read. Wow. I’m so glad for godly ministers and spreading the Word through words spoken and written. (Thank you Lord!). Anyway, this Study Guide was instrumental in turning me from where I’d been to where I’d be going. I referred to this Guide many times for several years while I digested the changes being made by God, and the choices I was learning to make, in my life. It wasn’t an easy process, believe me. Again, I’m thankful for trusted men and women of God who lend their stories, experiences and expertise to us in spoken and written words. Amen!
